Tip for Growing Your Career in Responsible Tech: Never underestimate the value of networking
All Tech Is Human’s three key workstreams are community, education, and careers. We see these three aspects of our activities as interrelated, since growing your career in Responsible Tech greatly benefits from having a large personal network and regular access to upskilling.
We cannot overemphasize the importance of networking in Responsible Tech, especially since it is an evolving field with newish and sometimes loosely defined job titles where one’s reputation can have an outsized impact on getting a role. Networking, of course, is more natural to some than others. However, we strongly recommend finding ways to build up your network in Responsible Tech by regularly attending in-person and virtual events.
For those that live in major cities, you can often find Responsible Tech related events to build community. And for those that may be in more rural locations, we recommend finding virtual options such as our regular livestream series and to also check out the numerous virtual events shared on our Slack (we have an events channel).
